A delegation from the Polish Humanitarian Aid Organization visited the branch office of the Yemeni International Development Agency

Continuing joint efforts to enhance cooperation between the Polish organization and the Yemeni International Development Agency, a delegation from the Polish Humanitarian Aid Organization (PAH) visited the branch office of the Yemeni agency. This preliminary field visit included the Polish team arriving from Aden, where they were welcomed by the Deputy Director and Project Management Director, Dr. Jamal Qahtan, and the Alliances Management Director, Dr. Abdullah Al-Joori, along with the visit coordinator and International Partnerships Officer, Mr. Adel Saif.

It’s worth mentioning that the Polish delegation, after reviewing the agency’s work and projects, expressed a positive impression of the agency and its programs. The visiting team toured all departments and sections, and admired the agency’s organization and archives.

At the end of the visit, the head of the delegation, Dr. Amjad Anis, thanked all the agency’s staff for the warm welcome and excellent organization of all the agency’s activities.

The Director of the Yemeni International Development Agency – Yemen strengthens humanitarian and developmental cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO)

Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Salami, the Director of the Yemeni International Development Agency – Yemen, visited the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) in the capital, Amman. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hussein Al-Shibli, the Secretary-General of the charity organization. During the meeting, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen and explored ways to enhance humanitarian and developmental cooperation between the two entities.

The visit focused on reviewing the distinguished roles played by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization within and outside the kingdom. Dr. Al-Shibli provided a comprehensive overview of the humanitarian projects and initiatives implemented by the organization and their positive impact on local and regional conditions.

Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Salami, in turn, presented an overview of the challenging humanitarian conditions in Yemen due to multiple crises and emphasized the role of the Yemeni International Development Agency in providing support and assistance to the affected and implementing development projects in various fields.

The meeting addressed the future prospects of cooperation between the agency and the organization. They exchanged views on available opportunities to strengthen collaboration in development areas. Both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing the partnership to maximize benefits for those in need.

The visit concluded with Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Salami expressing gratitude and appreciation to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization for the warm reception and efforts dedicated to supporting humanitarian and developmental causes in the region. He affirmed the readiness of the Yemeni International Development Agency to reinforce future cooperation and achieve more humanitarian achievements in Yemen.

The Yemeni International Development Agency concludes the Partners for Yemen Conference

The Yemeni International Development Agency concluded the “Partners for Yemen” conference in Istanbul on Thursday, July 27, 2023. The conference brought together more than 227 international and local organizations, entities, and prominent individuals involved in humanitarian and development work from various countries, including Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Algeria, France, Germany, Canada, Jordan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The “Partners for Yemen” conference, held over two days on July 26 and 27, was sponsored by several partners and institutions, including the World Islamic Charity Organization (Kuwait), World Humanitarian Action, the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), Tawakkol Karman Foundation, Humanitarian Access Organization, and the Charitable Development Association (Kuwait), and the Union of Civil Society Organizations in the Islamic World.

The conference was attended by prominent figures from the official side representing the Yemeni Republic, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training, and the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Turkey. Non-official participants represented notable international institutions in humanitarian work.

The conference addressed various issues related to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, aiming to shed light on the current humanitarian situation, the damages caused by the war, and its impacts on Yemen’s present and future. It focused on education and the humanitarian situation, emphasizing emergency responses to Yemen, urgent and essential humanitarian projects in the short and medium term.

The conference extensively discussed education as a crucial aspect, covering topics such as the Yemeni education crisis, solutions, the reality of education for the most vulnerable groups in Yemen, Yemeni education as a development incubator, and notable humanitarian contributions to education in Yemen.

On the humanitarian front, the conference discussed the role of non-governmental organizations in Yemen’s development, the future of humanitarian work in Yemen, and the dimensions and challenges of international humanitarian work in the future.

The conference concluded by highlighting the symbols and pioneers of humanitarian work in Yemen in appreciation of their efforts. It also reviewed the closing statement and recommendations based on the workshops held during the conference’s proceedings.

The Ministry of Education in Al-Jawf signed an agreement with the Yemeni International Development Agency to construct three schools for displaced persons

“The Director of the Education Office in Al-Jawf, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Mohsen, and the Director of the Yemeni International Development Agency, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Salami, signed an agreement at the agency’s headquarters in Marib for the handover of the sites for the mobile schools project for displaced persons in the camps located in the Rayyan area, east of Al-Jawf Governorate.

The project includes the construction of three schools, each containing four classrooms equipped with school furniture, school administration facilities, and bathrooms. It is expected that 1,200 students, who have been deprived of education for three years since the displacement wave that occurred in Al-Jawf in early March 2020, will benefit from the schools.”

A delegation from the Yemeni International Development Agency – Turkey visits the earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkey

“Yesterday, a delegation from the Yemeni International Development Agency visited the earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkey, led by Dr. Abdulraqib Abad, the agency’s president, and Mr. Waeam Al-Hadini, the agency’s general manager. The delegation was briefed on the efforts of the agency’s field team, led by Mr. Zakaria Shalan, the director of the Turkey office, in the Adiyaman and Diyarbakir provinces for more than ten consecutive days. The delegation also met with several Turkish official authorities, religious affairs representatives, and civil society institutions to coordinate and explore sustainable collaboration methods to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake.”

The opening of the Abdulrahman Al-Judaimi School

“With the supervision of the Charitable Development Association in Kuwait and funding from the heirs of Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Judaimi, may he rest in peace, the Yemeni International Development Agency inaugurated the Abdulrahman Al-Judaimi School for Displaced Students in the Sky neighborhood of Marib – Al-Meel area, Marib Governorate. The inauguration was held under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Education and Director of the Education Office in the governorate.

During the opening ceremony, the education official at the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons in Marib, Ali Matir, noted that the school would work to reintegrate hundreds of displaced students, both boys and girls, who dropped out of school due to the lack of a school in the neighborhood.

Mrs. Beirut Al-Muflahi, the coordinator of the Education Cluster at OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), praised the role of the agency in implementing this project, which she considers a success story in all its dimensions, especially given the current circumstances.

It’s worth mentioning that the school consists of 4 classrooms, an administrative room, and two restrooms. The school aims to serve up to 400 students in both morning and evening shifts.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Beirut Al-Muflahi, the coordinator of the Education Cluster in Marib and Al-Jawf governorates, Mr. Ali Matir, the education official at the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons in Marib, Dr. Jamal Qahtan, the Director of Programs and Projects at the agency, and a large number of parents, guardians, and community leaders.

This project is part of the activities and projects of the Yemeni International Development Agency and its interventions in the field of education across Yemen, aiming to support access to education for all displaced and war-affected individuals.”

Al Hassan Educational Loan

“The Yemeni International Development Agency – Turkey announces the launch of the ‘Hassan Educational Loan’ project. This project aims effectively to create a conducive environment for Yemeni scientific competencies outside their country, through interest-free loans. These loans contribute to meeting the students’ needs by covering university fees and facilitating the repayment process with easy installments, which will positively impact the academic achievement of the students.

Conditions for the educational loan:

  1. The student must be of Yemeni nationality.
  2. The student must be enrolled in one of the Turkish universities or have provisional acceptance.
  3. The student must be capable of repayment.
  4. The student must be a resident in Turkey.
  5. The student must provide two endorsements from reputable individuals or institutions.
  6. The student must provide commercial guarantee or solidarity guarantee.
